Gosh, what an amazing album! It's obvious that Kevin Lowry can't be a newbie in the music business, and in fact, he's an experienced musician and composer, who has been a member of various bands like "Silent Winter" and "Crowned In Earth", for instance. Although his musical roots can be found in epic doom metal, his songwriting has evolved far beyond that. Growing increasingly bored of doom riffs, he rediscovered the heroes of his younger days, which were "Pink Floyd", "Genesis", Mike Oldfield, and "Camel", while drawing inspiration from legendary fusion bands like "Return To Forever" and "Mahavishnu Orchestra" as well. All of that is clearly audible on this album. Nonetheless I'm reluctant to call it "retro", because Kevin Lowry manages to package his musical ideas, undoubtedly based on 70's psychedelic and symphonic rock, in a quite idiosycratic way, giving it a fresh and... well... surprisingly "modern" touch.

This is "Phog's" exquisite debut album, and the predecessor of the ingenious "Evidence", released only recently. Like its successor, it's wonderful melodic prog, perfectly crafted, and entirely instrumental - somewhere within the triangle of "Camel", "Happy The Man", and "Phog's" own vision of inventive music.
